Internship Program

Congratulations on your Internship Placement. Please see the quick links to the left for all of the forms/documents you will need throughout your placement.


Engineering Career Services will keep in touch with you while you are on Internship, to keep you informed of important dates, deadlines and new developments in Western Engineering. Please make sure to check your Western e-mail account regularly.

Internship Components

  • Complete the Internship Contact Form within the first week of your placement
  • Phone Check-In Appointment (Approx. 3-4 months after Internship start date)
  • Internship Employer Evaluation - Preliminary (to be completed 3 to 4 months after you start)
  • Faculty Site Visit (between November - March)
  • Internship Employer Evaluation - Final
  • Internship Report

The Recruitment Cycles

Round One

Job descriptions posted on CareerCentral beginning in the Fall of 2016;
On-campus interviews occur until February 17, 2017 (excluding Dec. 10, 2016 - Jan. 5, 2017);
Employer offers submitted by February 21, 2017;
Students receive offers February 22, 2017 (noon);
Employers notified of students acceptances or declines within 1-2 business days;

Students are given 48 hours to accept or decline offers. Western University informs employers of students placed.

Continuing Recruitment Cycle


We will gladly accept job postings, arrange interviews, and extend job offers after the formal round one deadlines and into the summer months. This is an open round where job postings, interviews, and job offers are done without date restrictions.

Contracts

Students who accept Internship offers are required to sign internship contracts with Engineering Career Services. These contracts provide details on the placement and the requirements of placed internship students.
