BIOMED 9526: Tissue Engineering - (1 credit)

The modern chemical engineer needs a strong fundamental understanding of engineering principles applied to life sciences. Tissue engineering integrates the principles and methods of engineering and life sciences toward the fundamental understanding of structure-function relationships in normal and pathological mammalian tissues especially as they relate to the development of biological substitutes to restore, maintain, or improve tissue/organ function. This course introduces basic ideas, concepts and principles of engineering in the context of biological processes.
