BIOMED 9525 Biomaterials Engineering - (1 credit)

This course introduces the basic principles governing the application of biomaterials for the permanent augmentation or replacement of tissues (artificial blood vessels, mechanical heart valves, breast implants, orthotic joints, artificial lenses and dental fillings). It also introduces materials used for relatively short-term use, for example, contact lenses and medical devices such as catheters.
