Women in Engineering at the University of Western Ontario is a student group working to empower and encourage current and prospective female students in the field of engineering. We provide support and opportunities to increase women in engineering enrolment and retention.
Women in Engineering’s Kick-Off Brunch
This year’s event is taking place on Sunday, November 6th at the Delta London Armouries Hotel (325 Dundas Street) at 12:30pm.
There will be a keynote address by Western Engineering alumna Sarah Patterson (BESc’10), Mechanical Engineer in Training at Dillon Consulting. There will also be door prizes and a silent raffle table. Tickets are $15 for students and can be purchased at the UES desk (SEB 1001).

Speed NetworkingThank you to all of you ladies who came out to our first WIE Speed Networking event! I hope you all had a great time talking to the professionals. It seemed to nothing but beneficial to all. Special thanks to all the professionals who came out! Thanks to Elaine and Janelle for organizing such a fun event.
Brownie Meetings
This year we have taken the initiative to become more involved in making younger girls aware of
the opportunities within engineering. Thus, we have been organizing events to meet with Brownie groups
around London. It is a great time for the younger girls as well as the older girls. If you are interested
in participating in one of these meetings
Caitlin Stauft, President of WIE, recently attended a teleconference between many Canadian wide universities. Many topics were covered and she has a few new ideas that she wants to implement before her time as President is up. Keep up the good work Caitlin!
Montreal Memorial CeremonyWomen In Engineering will be hosting a ceremony in remembrance of the 14 female students who were murdered for being in enrolled in engineering. The ceremony will be held in the Spencer Engineering Building in room 3109, Monday December 6th. Please come show your support for Women In Engineer and Men Against Violence Against Women.
NCWIEThe National Conference on Women In Engineering (NCWIE) was a great success this year. Our delegates learned a lot about not being afraid to push their limits and leaving their comfort zones. Thank you to the University of Ottawa for putting on an amazing conference.
