Madagascar

May – August 2012

This year the CEE&ID students will be travelling to Madagascar to fulfill their 3 month international placement.  Elaine, Rebecca, and Victoria will be partnering with the UWO Anthropology department for the first 5 weeks to take part in their Environmental Anthropology field course.  They will then work on an engineering project for the remainder of their stay.  Prospective projects include:

  • designing hand pump irrigation systems for subsistence farmers
  • investigating renewable energy sources with the l'Université d'Antsiranana
  • working with the KOFAMA community-based conservation, resource management and ecotourism site

Check out the students' blogs to keep up with their work abroad.

Further updates of their trip will be available in September.
