First Year Timetables

Western Engineering has a common first year program, meaning that all first year students take the same courses as follows:

AM 1411A/B Linear Algebra for Engineers
AM 1413 Applied Mathematics for Engineers I
Chem 1024A/B Chemistry for Engineers
ES 1021A/B Properties of Materials in Engineering
ES 1022Y Engineering Statics
ES 1036A/B Programming Fundamentals for Engineers
ES 1050 Introductory Engineering Design and Innovation Studio
Phys 1401A/B Physics for Engineering Students I
Phys 1402A/B Physics for Engineering Students II
1.0 Non-technical elective (chosen from an approved list)

2011-2012

Timetable A - FULL
Timetable B

WE Go Global Timetables

First Year Timetable - WE Go Global #1
First Year Timetable - WE Go Global #2

All four timetables are essentially the same, the difference between them is when AM1411A/B (Linear Algebra) is taken. We recommend that for those students who have not taken Geometry & Discrete Math (MGA4U) select timetable #1 or #2, as AM 1411A/B is scheduled in the second term (the 'B' term), thereby giving those students more of a background during AM1413 for the course. However, all the courses in all four timetables are the same.

Timetable example

Notes:

‘A’ is a first term half (credit) course (September to December)
‘B’ is a second term half (credit) course (January to April)
‘Y’ is a full year, half (credit) course

If a course doesn’t have a letter suffix, it is a full year course (September to April)

Course Registration Instructions (begins June 20th):

1.   Select one of the four engineering timetables and register using the step-by-step registration process found here.

2.   Select and register for 1.0 credits of non-technical elective – the approved list may be found here: List of non-technical electives

a.   Non-Technical Electives: To see if, when and where each class is being offered, please refer to the Office of the Registrar Timetables.

b.   Select Subject and then hit “Search Timetable”. Scroll down to the appropriate course.

3.   Make sure you register in only one LEC (lecture), LA (lab) and/or TU (tutorial) for each course – the sections are indicated on the engineering timetable sheet.

4.   Register all courses for the whole year (September to April)

5.   If you have International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement, or transfer courses, please call 519-661-2130 to book an appointment with the first year academic counsellor before finalizing your course registration.

6.   Are you interested in applying for engineering scholarships next year? We recommend registering for 7.5 credits.
