In-Situ Self-Sustaining Treatment for Active Remediation (STAR)
Project Description:
Demonstrate whether STAR is a viable treatment approach when conducted
in in-situ mode.
Personal Background:
Graduated from the University of Bologna (Italy) with a BSc in Physics
(1995) and a MEng in Environmental Engineering (2002). Subsequently,
obtained his PhD in Environmental Engineering in 2009 from the
University of Edinburgh, studying the applicability of smouldering
combustion to the remediation of NAPL contaminated soil. Also worked as
an environmental consultant and as a civil servant in Italy's
Environmental Protection Agency.
