Arunkumar completed Bachelors of Technology in Agricultural Engineering from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, India in 2007 and Master of Engineering in Irrigation Water Management from Anna University, Chennai in 2009. He was bestowed with Dr. Jayasekar Endowment Award by Anna University, Chennai as the best outgoing student in M.E. (Irrigation Water Management) for the year 2009-10. Inspired by various research activities at Centre for Water Resources, Anna University, he joined Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay as a Research Associate in one of the research projects undertaken in the Department of Civil Engineering and subsequently registered PhD at IIT Bombay. He completed his PhD in 2014. He was awarded 'Union Ministry of Water Resources - Department of Irrigation Prize' for his paper published in the Journal of Institution of Engineers (India). He has also received Prof. U.C. Kothyari Best PhD Thesis Award from The Indian Society for Hydraulics, Pune. To his credit, he is having large number of publications in reputed national and international journals and also in the conferences. He is also a member of various professional bodies. He is now working as Postdoctoral Fellow in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada. Arunkumar is presently involved in the project "Systems Engineering Approach to the Reliability of Complex Civil Infrastructure". This research aims to develop an advanced risk analysis methodology for implementation with civil engineering infrastructure systems.
