Destructive high-intensity winds
near the ground have been
identified as microburst outflows.
A need exists for a sufficiently
large-scale test facility to allow
model testing for assessment of
resulting loads on built structures.
LARGE-SCALE EXPERIMENTAL SIMULATION OF
THE THUNDERSTORM MICROBURST OUTFLOW
Design, assembly and validation
of a 2-D slot jet test rig are to be
completed. A preliminary small
facility is built as a proof of
concept, with the large-scale
facility to be 7 times larger.
