Hugo deLasa,
a professor in the Department of Chemical & Biochemical
Engineering and currently the Director of the Chemical Reactor
Engineering Centre, was presented with the
prestigious R.S. Jane Memorial Award at the 54th Canadian Chemical
Engineering Conference that took place in Calgary October 3 - 6.
Also at the conference, the CBE 497 group were chosen
as finalists to present their project, Hydrocracking of Vacuum
Gas Oil; and Babak Jajuee, a PhD student
in the Department of Chemical & Biochemical Engineering, won the ISEE Graduate Student Paper
Competition.

Darius Viskontas, a resident in Orthopaedic Surgery working under
the co-supervision of Jim Johnson, faculty member in the Departments of
Mechanical & Materials Engineering and Surgery, was awarded best research paper
at the annual Residents Research Day of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Elborn Power
Shutdown
There will be a power shutdown in Elborn College Thursday, October
21 from 12:01 am - 7:00 am. This will affect the entire
building and is required to complete the high voltage cable
replacement. Questions or concerns regarding this shutdown

shutdown over the next couple of weeks to allow contractors to run
ductwork for a new fume hood.
