The Ross and Jean Clark Scholarship Recipients The Ross and Jean Clark Scholarships are
available to graduate students studying towards MESc and PhD degrees in a topic related to
Environmental Engineering.  Two awards are available for students who have
been registered for at least one year of study and who are continuing until at least
Spring 2005.   The Western Engineering Graduate Committee
reviewed all nominations in early October and recently awarded Babak Jajuee
Moghaddam and Soheil Gholamreza-Kashi, with the Ross and Jean Clark Scholarships. Babak Jajuee Moghaddam  is studying
in the Chemical and Biochemical Engineering Department under the supervision of
Dr. A. Margaritis.  His Co-advisor is Dr. D. Karamanev. Babak's project titled "Biotreatment
of Diesel-Contaminated Water Using a Novel Immobilized Cell Air-lift Bioreactor
System," is a practical engineering approach to resolve the numerous
environmental problems caused by diesel fuel in refinery sites. This project has
been funded by Imperial Oil. Soheil Gholamreza-Kashi is
completing his PhD studies in the Department of
Civil & Environmental Engineering under the supervision of
Dr. Raouf Baddour.
Soheil's research topic is "Experimental Study of
Rectangular Surface Jets." The Ross and Jean Clark Scholarships are made
possible by the generosity of Ross (BESc '46, MEng '75) and Jean (BA '46) Clark
to assist graduate students specializing in Environmental Engineering in the
Faculty of Engineering at Western. |
