2008 Spring Awards Ceremony celebrates student achievement

Western Engineering’s top graduating students were honoured at the annual Spring Awards Ceremony on June 11, 2008.

The award recipients, their families, and staff and faculty from Western Engineering, gathered in Spencer Engineering Building to congratulate the students from this year's graduating class on their impressive achievements.

Before the ceremony began, the audience was treated to a performance by flutist Danielle Carter. The award presenters were then led into the auditorium by bag piper Eileen Robertson. The ceremony was presided over by Acting Dean George Knopf, who also provided opening and closing remarks.

The list of accomplishments was extensive, and speaks to the high caliber of students that the Faculty of Engineering sees graduate each year. The awards were presented to the winners by engineering faculty, and a special group of distinguished guests that included members of the professional engineering community, and former Western Engineering staff member Doreen Dinsdale. The presenters said a few words about each of the award recipients, outlining their achievements, and explaining why they had won their award.
