Western’s Volunteer Program is looking for participants.

Now in its thirteenth year, Western’s Volunteer Program helps motivated students find volunteer positions in rewarding, interesting learning placements within each of Western’s faculties.

Each year we have more than 100 students dedicate their time to voluntary participation, and last year had over 60 faculty members and staff who requested and hired one or more student volunteers to help with their workload.

As a part of Western’s Volunteer Program, students are able to gain valuable volunteer experience within departments at the university while trying out different roles as they work to determine future career paths. Students often remark that their experiences as volunteers were fundamental in helping them make career decisions, and provided them with insight and experience in areas of the university they didn’t know existed. Since experience is more important now than ever when making career decisions or applying for graduate programs, we hope to see this program grow to accept more students each year and invite you to be a part of it.

In the past, students have provided volunteer assistance developing internal newsletters, conducting research, working in labs, updating departmental websites and communications, performing committee work, planning events, providing library assistance, and helping other students. Faculty and staff are invited to post positions related to their work, and for which they are able to provide learning opportunities and mentorship. Please note that we restrict student volunteer hours to no less than 3 per week, and no more than 10. Much more information about the program and how to use our new and improved recruitment system can be found on our website:
