2008 L.S. Lauchland Alumni Medal

Catherine Karakatsanis, BESc ' 83, MESc '91, will be the recipient of the 2008 L.S. Lauchland Engineering Alumni Medal. Ms. Karakatsanis will receive the award at this year's Homecoming festivities, from October 3 - 5, 2008. (more)

    Two teams from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in Western Engineering competed in the 2008 Engineering Design Competition organized by the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI). (more)

  • Professor Slobodan P. Simonovic awarded three new grants to continue research
    Slobodan P. Simonovic, a professor in Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Director, Engineering Studies for the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction, has received new funding to continue his research into the impact of climate change on water resources management. (more)

  • Engineering PhD earns G-G gold medals
    The Faculty of Graduate Studies has selected Chun Wang as one of two recipients of the 2008 Governor General's Gold Medals. (more)

  • Research pursues next generation of biofuels
    The provincial government will pump $7.5 million into The University of Western Ontario's bioproducts initiative, further opening the door to commercializing the conversion of farm byproducts and waste into fuels. (more)
