A Brief History
Since the 2002 season, the Western Baja SAE team has been active as an
extra-curricular Collegiate Design Series team. Prior to that, it was
active only as a 4th year project team, in which students designed innovative
solutions as part of a senior capstone design course. The experience of
these past teams has led the team to where is it today.
The team's best showing was 18th of 106 teams (overall score), which was achieved in 2000. Since then, other team milestones have been reached. In 2004, the East team placed 10th in design, with an overall placement of 18th of 62 teams (overall score). Each year, the bar is raised, as teams become more experienced and learn from past mistakes.
