Shadow Day

Want to experience a day-in-the-life of a first-year engineering student?

Wednesday, February 14, 2018

8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Shadow Day is designed for Grade 12 students who have applied to an engineering program at a university or Grade 11 students who are interested in engineering. The goal of this event is to give you a better understanding of what a day-in-the-life of an engineering student is like in first year and the many opportunities available at Western Engineering.

You will be paired up with a first-year engineering student and will accompany them to their classes. During lunch, students will have the opportunity to ask questions to our panel of upper year students.  We will also provide a guided tour of the Western Student Recreation Centre. The event is free of charge and lunch is provided.

Registration will open up in December.

Parents and guardians will not be able to join the shadows, but may wish to arrange a separate tour of our campus and residence facilities, or explore other areas in London.  Campus Tours can be booked here.

Student Testimonials

"In Grade 12, you hear a lot of things from many different people, including what university is like and what to expect compared to high school. Nothing will come close to actually being able to experience a day in the life of a first-year engineering student.

As a first-year student, I had the opportunity to share my knowledge and information with a Grade 12 student which helped them in their decision making process. Being able to share all my wonderful experiences is as exciting for me as it is for the high school students."

"I attended Shadow Day in Grade 11, and the amazing experience I had that day excited me about engineering and Western as a whole, so I applied in Grade 12.

Shadow Day truly showed me what it was like as a first-year engineering student at Western, and introduced me to the university and the faculty in such an intimate way. I fell in love with the program, the opportunities Western offered, and the atmosphere of the campus and the faculty. Overall, my experience at Shadow Day was crucial for me deciding to come to Western Engineering."
