How long have you worked at Western Engineering?
Since January 2012.
What do you do in your role at Western Engineering?
I work with the Associate Dean (Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies) and departmental teams to ensure we offer our graduate students the best student experience. This includes managing the following: administrative practices, program administration, course creation and scheduling, TA and student funding, scholarships, orientation, student issues, and graduation. I also provide mentorship and guidance to the Graduate Coordinators.
Why are you passionate about being a part of the Staff Mentorship Resource Group?
In the eight years I have worked at Western, I have held many different positions. I started as a temporary employee through a staffing agency, and worked my way through a contract position to a permanent role. Throughout my journey at Western, I have been lucky enough to have amazing staff around me that helped me find the resources I needed when I needed them, and I think it’s one of the main reasons I’ve been successful in my roles at the University. Mentorship and guidance is incredibly important in career progression, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to help out in any way I can.
