ENT SimTech wins 2010 Venture London Business Competition

ENT Simulation Technologies Inc. (ENT SimTech), a Western spin-off company, won the 2010 Venture London Business Competition in the "Proposed Business Category". The company was founded by Prof. Hanif Ladak and Dr. Sumit Agrawal with support from Jaipreet Bindra and Paul Paolatto from WORLDiscoveries. Funding was provided through the Western Innovation Fund. Ladak is a professor in the Departments of Medical Biophysics, Electrical and Computer Engineering and Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and is a member of the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program. He is affiliated with the Imaging Research Laboratories at the Robarts Research Institute and with the National Centre for Audiology. Agrawal is a surgeon-scientist with the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the London Health Sciences Centre and is a professor at Western. He is also affiliated with the National Centre for Audiology and is Co-Founder of the Auditory Biophysics Laboratory in the Department of Medical Biophysics. Bindra is a Business Development Manager at WORLDiscoveries and with the C4 Consortium (Southwest Ontario's Technology Transfer Community). Paolatto is the Executive Director of WORLDiscoveries.

ENT SimTech develops simulators based on virtual-reality technologies that allow medical students and residents to practice diagnostic and surgical procedures specifically for the ear, nose and throat. The technology uses a virtual, 3-dimensional anatomical model with realistic graphics and touch feedback.
