Leaders in Training Program

The Discovery Western Leaders in Training (LiT) program challenges youth to develop personal leadership qualities through workshops, seminars and games. With sessions on communication, teamwork, professionalism and goal setting LiT's will be encouraged to explore and develop their own skills. This program is open to students currently in grade 9 to 12.

Following the week of instruction LiT's will be placed with a mentor instructor in our summer day camp program for one week to put their knowledge and experience in action. This shadowing is also supported by daily check-in's and reflections. LiT's are given a choice of three possible weeks to complete their in-program mentorship.

Hours completed during the shadow week are eligible to count for high school volunteer hours.

When is this offered?

The LiT instructional week is: July 10 to July 14 from 9am-4pm.

Students are then asked to select one of the possible shadow weeks:

  • July 17 to July 21
  • July 24 to July 28
  • July 31 to August 4

What is the cost?

Cost per participant is $200, which covers the week of training as well as the shadow week.
