Welcome to Western Engineering.
We are committed to being a destination of choice for the world’s brightest minds seeking the best learning experience at Canada’s leading research university. At Western Engineering, we offer a welcoming and supportive environment for all students.
First-year academic counsellors, peer mentors, faculty and staff advisors and free peer-tutors are dedicated to ensuring the success of each and every student. Undergraduate students studying at Western Engineering have opportunities to explore exciting options through our dual degree programs with prestigious professional schools on campus, such as the Ivey Business School and Western Law, as well as programs in other faculties at Western.
We host unique research facilities including the Institute for Chemicals and Fuels from Alternative Resources (ICFAR), the Insurance Research Lab for Better Homes, the Fraunhofer Project Centre for Composite Research at Western, and the Wind Engineering, Energy and Environment (WindEEE) Research Institute. Our cutting-edge research provides the foundation for graduate student training and undergraduate learning. These unique facilities are at the forefront of international research in developing environmentally sustainable solutions to the challenges faced in the world today.
We are in the midst of an exciting time at Western Engineering as we plan for a new building to open in 2018. ThreeC+ (for Connect, Collaborate and Create) will provide exciting group learning spaces and be an inspiring environment where students will integrate classroom theory with collaborative hands-on learning as they design, build, test and refine their concepts. It will also host research groups in communications, mechatronics and wind engineering.
At Western Engineering, we are creating the next generation of globally minded problem solvers.
I invite you to explore our innovative, academic programs, leading-edge research and the supportive community in our faculty and to contact me for more information: WEDean@eng.uwo.ca
