This introductory course provides a solid background in the fundamentals of digital image processing, and covers the major topics in the field, including image representation, transforms, restoration, enhancement and coding. Basic concepts are introduced with the essential underlying mathematics. Advanced topics are intentionally omitted, but are covered in the course Advanced Digital Image Processing and Analysis. A major aim of this course is to provide students with sufficient implementation details to apply image processing concepts in solving practical problems.
