What is Twitter?

Twitter is a free social networking service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author's profile page and delivered to subscribers. Tweets can be sent directly to a subscribers cell phone.

Western Engineering’s Disruptions Twitter Account

Western Engineering has set-up a WE Disruptions Twitter account as a mechanism to notify interested parties about all service disruptions, event cancellations, and changes to classes occurring within the Faculty of Engineering at The University of Western Ontario. Interested parties are asked to join Twitter and follow “WEdisruptions” to start receiving notifications. Click here for instructions.

Notifications can be sent directly to a subscriber’s cell phone. Therefore, if a person is already out of the house when a disruption occurs he/she can be notified on his/her cell phone while he/she is on the go. Click here for instructions.

Step One: Visit www.twitter.com
Step Two: Click “Sign Up Now” and follow instructions

Step One: Login to your Twitter account
Step Two: Visit http://twitter.com/WEdisruptions 
Step Three: Click Follow

How to send WEdisruptions notifications to your cell phone

Step One: Login to your Twitter account
Step Two: Click “Settings” on the top toolbar (right-hand side)
Step Three: Click “Mobile”
Step Four: Enter your cell phone number and follow instructions
Step Five: Go to http://twitter.com/Wedisruptions
Step Six: Click on image of a telephone, beside “Following”
